People are living longer and the incidence and prevalence of dementia is increasing exponentially. Dementia is not just Alzheimer’s Disease, which is devastating in and of itself, but many other diseases with a variety of causes, presentations, and treatments. With patients living into their 90’s, nurses spend a huge amount of their time caring for patients with dementia and working with their families, loved-ones and carers. Expand your knowledge and expertise around this frequent diagnosis while increasing your insight into strategies for best practices in nursing.As nurses, we know psychotic defense mechanisms are often seen in dementia patients. The conference is designed for NP’s, RN’s, LPN’s, Pharmacists and other allied health professionals with an interest in learning more about the causes and treatments of dementia.
$150 includes 8 contact hours to satisfy requirements mandated by The State of Hawaii Board of Nursing, breakfast, lunch, and all materials.
On-site metered parking is available for $1/hour.

Goals and Objectives
At the conclusion of this conference, participants will be able to differentiate between the different diseases causing dementia, their pathophysiology, and best practices for caring for patients. They will have an understudying of the dementia work-up and its findings. Participants will become familiar with current research around, and the treatment for dementia.
